Grace Sachi Troxell

Bio

Grace Sachi Troxell is a Brooklyn based artist. She received her BS from Skidmore College in Studio Art and a Postgraduate certificate from the Glasgow School of Art in Painting. She has been an artist-in-residence at The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, The Studios at MASS MoCA, Woodstock Byrdcliffe, The Pottery Workshop-Jingdezhen, China, The Textile Symposium at the Rothko Center, Latvia and Dumfries House, Scotland. Her work explores an elegy to material remembrance and the promise of the ritual of play. Through intuition and physicality the work investigates haptic experiences of urgent play, metamorphosis, sensuality, and displacement. Fiberglass, steel, wood, and mooring rope shed their familiar roles to transform into a language of ruins.
