Shane Lutzk

Bio

Shane Lutzk is a unique ceramic artist. At the age of nine, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Much of his work depicts his struggle with this disease. Lutzk wants to bring both the ramifications and the positive outcomes that come from diabetes to the public's attention. His monumental works are included in both public and private collections.

Lutzk completed his BFA in ceramics at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2014. He then went on to earn his Master of Fine Arts at Arizona State University in 2017. Lutzk was a resident artist at C.R.E.T.A. ROME in Rome, Italy in the summer of 2017.

Currently, he is the Head of Ceramics at Eastern Illinois University. His work is in the collection of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, in Kansas City, Missouri; The Ken Ferguson Teaching Collection at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. He has a significant work displayed at the AC Marriot Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. His recent projects include a collaboration with Russell Ferguson for a major exhibition at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri.
