Anne Lindberg is a multidisciplinary artist whose work expands the language of drawing into sculpture, installation, architecture, and textile. Anne Lindberg is a multidisciplinary artist whose work expands the language of drawing into sculpture, installation, architecture, and textile. Working with finely drawn lines and thousands of taut strands of colored thread, Lindberg creates luminous, often site-responsive works that explore perception, light, movement, and the physical experience of space.

Recent and current exhibitions include seen and unseen at the Academy Art Museum, Easton, Maryland; Woven Abstractions at Bienvenu Steinberg & C, New York; Consciousness of Stream at Patrick Mikhail Gallery, Montreal; Of all colors at Secrist | Beach, Chicago; Prendre le Soleil at Hangar Y, Paris; and exhibitions at the Textile Museum at George Washington University Museums, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Everson Museum of Art, and Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. Her site-specific installation passage, commissioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in 2023, remains on view through 2027. In fall 2026, Lindberg will be included in The Gravity of Light at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and will present Threads, a collaborative, site-responsive installation with poet H. L. Hix at the Archive Gallery at ‘T’ Space, Steven Myron Holl Foundation, in Rhinebeck, New York.

Lindberg has presented five solo and collaborative exhibitions at Haw Contemporary: drawn together (2014), in tandem (2016), broken-riddle piece (2018), a collaboration with poet Ginny Threefoot, Spectrum (2022), and waves within (2025). The exhibitions trace important developments in her practice, from distilled black-and-white forms and investigations of drawing and perception to increasingly complex relationships among color, landscape, language, and spatial experience. Spectrum accompanied the release of her first monograph and brought together drawings from the roots of how we measure and rising temperatures series, while waves within drew inspiration from an Emily Dickinson poem to explore the interconnectedness of mind, body, weather, clouds, waves, and landscape. Lindberg has also appeared in numerous Haw Contemporary group exhibitions, including OPEN (2013), You People (2015), Every Street (2017), DECADE (2023), and Natural Law (2025).

Lindberg has also realized significant architectural and public commissions. Her six-story glass installation ellipse was commissioned by NYU Langone Health for its women’s health center in the Citicorp Building in New York and completed in 2023. An earlier commission through the GSA Art in Architecture program, curtain wall, spans four stories of the Richard Bolling Federal Building in Kansas City. She is currently completing a major glass installation for the Des Moines International Airport, scheduled for completion in fall 2026. Fourteen of her drawings have also been acquired by the U.S. Consulate General in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Her work is held in public and private collections including the Nevada Museum of Art, Everson Museum of Art, Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Akron Art Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Spencer Museum of Art, The Rachofsky Collection, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, NYSE Chicago, and Niwako Kimono Company, among others. Her first monograph, Anne Lindberg, was published by Dürer Editions, Dublin, in 2022.

Lindberg is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant, a Charlotte Street Foundation Fellowship, a Lighton International Artists Exchange grant, an Art Omi International Artists Residency, an American Institute of Architects Allied Arts and Crafts award, and a Mid-America National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She received a BFA from Miami University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Lindberg lives and works in Ancramdale, New York.
