Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
Haw Contemporary (“we”, “us”) is a contemporary art gallery at 1600 Liberty Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64102. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our email updates, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have a question, write to mail@hawcontemporary.com.
Information you give us
- Inquiries. When you send an inquiry about a work or book, we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, your message, and which work you asked about. We use it to reply to you. The inquiry is saved in our website system and emailed to our staff.
- Email updates. When you join our mailing list, whether on the website, by ticking “Send me email updates” on the inquiry form, or in the gallery, we collect your email address, your name if you give it, and a record of when and how you signed up. We use it to send you news about exhibitions and new work.
- Purchases. If you buy a work from us, we keep the details needed for the sale, such as billing and shipping information, invoices and payment records. We keep these in our sales records and use them to complete and document the sale.
Our email updates
Every email we send includes a link to unsubscribe, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We keep a minimal record of addresses that have unsubscribed or that can no longer receive email, so that we do not email them again.
We use email service providers to deliver our messages; at present these are Mailchimp and Postmark. Our emails may include a way for us to tell whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. When you click a link in one of our emails and visit this website, we may recognize you for that visit so that we can see which artists, works and exhibitions interest you. We use this only to improve what we send and to understand collector interest. We do not use it to track you across other websites.
Information collected automatically
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. It uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and device, and your approximate location. You can learn more and opt out at Google’s page on how it uses data.
- Our own counts. We keep simple counts of how many times pages and works are viewed and what people search for on the site. These counts are not tied to your name or email address.
- Cookies. Our forms use a cookie so they can work securely. Analytics uses its own cookies, described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
- Fonts. The site’s typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with companies that help us run the gallery and this website, and only as needed for that purpose: our website hosting provider, our email providers, Google Analytics, and, for purchases, payment processors, accountants and shipping carriers. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries and sales records for as long as we need them for our business, tax and legal obligations. We keep your email address on our mailing list until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only the minimal record described above. Analytics data is kept according to Google’s retention settings.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message. You can also ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing mail@hawcontemporary.com. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can. We may need to keep certain records, for example for tax purposes, or the minimal unsubscribe record, even after a deletion request.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No website or email system can be made completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, such as Instagram. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
