Five interlocking ceramic rings with rounded edges, painted in muted taupe with accents of bright blue and red, arranged in a flowing horizontal composition against a white wall. The rings cast distinct shadows, creating depth and dimension in this three-dimensional sculptural installation.

Interrupted Flow

Shane Lutzk

9/7/2018 – 11/7/2018

Shane Lutzk’s exhibition Interrupted Flow features a compilation of ceramic pieces. While Lutzk’s focus to date has centered around large wheel thrown vessels inspired by historical and contemporary architecture, the work for this exhibition features a number of unique sculptures that reflect his personal life experiences, including a diagnosis of Juvenile Diabetes at age nine. Shane creates symbolic installations that correlate with the universal symbol for diabetes, a blue ring. He manipulates the rings either by hand, or through the firing process. The bright colors, manipulation and installation of these rings convey the interrupted flow of living with Type I Diabetes.
