Haw Contemporary is pleased to present READY FIRE AIM, a new exhibition by Archie Scott Gobber. Long known for his sharp fusion of text, image, and cultural critique, Gobber here leans into the immediacy of language as both subject and material. Painted phrases, clipped idioms, and everyday expressions are reconfigured to expose humor, irony, and unease, reminding us how words shape perception as much as images do. In this body of work, Gobber’s wit remains disarming, but his targets—consumerism, politics, identity, and belief—land with renewed urgency. READY FIRE AIM captures the tension between quick reaction and deliberate thought, asking us to pause, reconsider, and look again. Ultimately, it is Gobber’s humanity that shines through, lifting his work above the noise and grounding it in a deeply human register.
