Essay by David Campany; special text insert by Tanya Marcuse; design by Jacob Romm; printed by Trifolio, S.r.l.
In Deer, Tanya Marcuse follows the transformation of a deer’s body over nineteen months, returning to the woods from September 2023 through April 2025. Her sixteen photographs move beyond documentation, using staging, embellishment, and fire to explore the boundary between physical fact and imaginative vision. The resulting sequence is both intimate and expansive, reflecting on mortality and the cycles of the natural world. An essay by David Campany and an insert of Marcuse’s writings deepen this meditation on matter, memory, and transformation.
