Three white porcelain high-top sneakers arranged against a neutral background, their surfaces cast with detailed stitching and fabric textures, accompanied by a black and white striped shoe on the left. The sculptural objects gleam with a matte ceramic finish, preserving the worn characteristics and design elements of contemporary footwear in monochromatic form.

Archival Nostalgia

9/8/2017 – 10/14/2017

Cast in bright white porcelain, the objects in Archival Nostalgia have been prepared for future discovery, while carrying with them the details of their extinction. Just as we uncover layers of information about the notion of value in cultures before us through stories and clues left by ancient ceramics and vessel shards, we uncover similar information from these cast objects. Preserving these objects is the same as capturing or suspending a feeling, or some nostalgic memory of a time and place in which each object played a role. Much like a photo, feelings and remembrances of a person, place, or thing are contained in their colorless, sentimental splendor.
